Hotel Eetcafé In D\\\'ouwe Peel is an ideal starting point to discover the unspoilt nature of the Mariapeel, a nature reserve in Limburg. As in other parts of Peel, peat has been cut here for centuries, but only on a small scale. That is why the original character of the raised bog area has been reasonably preserved here. You walk through a damp landscape of forest and heath. The large puddle that you see just before junction 51 was created by peat extraction. Just before junction 57 you enter North Brabant. You cross the Helenavaart, a canal dug to drain peat and drain the area. Finally, you walk through Helenaveen, the southernmost peat colony in the Netherlands. This beautiful town enjoys a protected village view.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
