Landmarks Everyone always wants to see the sea

Picturesque towns, wierden and beautiful polders. North Groningen is sparsely populated so it is quiet cycling. While you enjoy a breath of fresh air along the coastline, let your dreams run wild. Looking out over the water to the world famous Wadden Islands, the surf and seagulls are all you hear. Park your car at the Breede landmark, an intimate hamlet with a stately appearance that is richly surrounded by greenery. The center of the community is the medieval church, architecture in a simple form. The hamlet borders the wierdendorp Warffum with a protected village view. In North Groningen there is still a lot to discover by bike and the cycling routes 138453 and 138454 also offer you every opportunity to do so. The yellow-topped Hornhuizen landmark tower is a striking element in the landscape. The upper part of the tower is covered with"Grunnegs gold\\\", hard yellow that should resemble gold leaf. The tower probably served as a lighthouse for shipping in the Wadden Sea. And then you reach the hamlet of Wierhuizen, once quite a village. The storm surge on Christmas Eve in 1717 took a heavy toll and a hamlet remained. The destroyed church was demolished and a landmark bar house was built near the cemetery where small-housed people laid their deceased in state.
