Description

The name Zeewolde refers to the primeval forest that grew here before the era and that was later flooded by the sea. Approx. fifty years ago the water sloshed here. It is located at the most beautiful point of southern Flevoland, between the water of the Randmeren and a wide, agricultural landscape. Surprisingly enough, the largest contiguous deciduous forest in Western Europe is located in the west: the Horsterwold. The Game Route runs through the Horsterwold, culminating in the Horsterberg. You look out over the Stille Kern and if you are lucky you can see the Konik horses passing by below. It is not for nothing that this area, together with the Hulkesteinsebos, won the EDEN Award a few years ago. The jury spoke of a rough diamond with a lot of potential. With the prize money, supplemented by various subsidies, a Tuurtoren was built near the Horsterberg. Of course you also cycle along some of the many beaches in Zeewolde. Here you can enjoy the view over the Wolderwijd and the Nuldernauw. For the children there are plenty of play areas on these beaches.
