Barendrecht, South Holland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 138275
Provided by: route.nl
This cycling route starts with a cup of coffee (or tea) at Polderzicht Tea & More, in the renovated Zuidpolder Landscape Park. From here you cycle through the Waalbos and along the water to Dordrecht. Three rivers meander around the city and meet just outside the city limits: the Beneder-Merwede, the Noord and the Oude Maas. You will see many ships on your bike: due to its location just before Rotterdam, this water junction is the busiest part of Europe. Dordrecht, also called 'Dordt', is first mentioned in a text from the twelfth century. When you cycle through the city, its rich past will undoubtedly appeal to you. For example, stop at Huis Weizigt from 1794. The high hipped roof and the brick facade with corner pilasters give the building a stately appearance.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
