From Camping De Vledders you can take a tour of plenty of natural beauty and cultural history. You cycle past the Fifty Bunder heathland and the adjacent Noordlaarderbos. On the other side of the path you look out over the stream valley of the Drentsche Aa. This is a beautiful meandering stream with numerous side branches. Not a National Park for nothing! Further on you pass through Appelbergen, a beautiful nature reserve. In the middle of the forest you can make a pit stop at Pannenkoekhuis Paviljoen Appelbergen. Then you can get a breath of fresh air in the Oost- and Onnerpolder, a vast stream valley landscape west of the Zuidlaardermeer. You cross the Hunze, a little later you drive past the polder mill De Boezemvriend from 1871. Finally, you cycle through Zuidlaren, which enjoys a protected village view because of the many well-preserved old buildings.
