Description

Your cycling route starts at the cozy Eetcafé De Kers in Oerle. From here you cycle straight into Veldhoven, whose name was first mentioned in a charter from 1295 (Velthouen). Between Veldhoven and Eindhoven you cycle through the Dommeldal with its hedgerows, meadows, meadows, forests, heathlands and ponds. Parts of the stream were once straightened for agriculture, but the original course has been preserved or restored in many places. The original Genneper watermill from 1249 was destroyed during the Eighty Years' War and rebuilt in 1587. This forced or ban mill of the Norbertine Postel Abbey was a favorite subject of Vincent van Gogh. Next to the mill you will find the Environmental Education Center. At cycling junction 3 you cycle past the sustainable Philips Fruit Garden.
