First, this route takes you through Terneuzen. This town used to be called 'Ter Nessen': 'nesse' means headland. In the village of Spui, you cycle past the Eben Haëzer. This round, stone corn mill was built in 1807 and painted white according to Zeeland tradition. Further on, you pass Schapenbout. Although the name suggests otherwise, this hamlet was not founded by people with a preference for mutton: 'bout' means end. In Axel, you will see some beautiful monumental buildings. You will also pass the Stadsmolen, a corn mill from 1750 that was built on a bastion. The route leads you north through the polder landscape. You will pass Zaamslag and you will also cycle along the Westerschelde. After getting off, it is time for a delicious meal at Taste Churchill .
