Through the dunes from Wassenaar to Noordwijk

Your cycling route starts at Boerderij Meijendel Pannenkoeken and more. The Meijendel dune area of the same name is one of the top ten most bird-rich nature reserves in the Netherlands and nowhere else are there so many nightingales. You cycle along the coast to Katwijk. There used to be a grate on the flat roof of the Katwijk Lighthouse on which a fire was lit. The lighthouse had another special function: Katwijk children were told that the children came from the Vierboet. De Put flour mill was built in 1987 as a replica of the original mill from 1619. You cycle through the Raaphorstpolder to Oud-Wassenaar Castle. This nineteenth-century villa with stepped gable, side wings and towers was built in 1876-1879. The stately castle is located in a large park and is used as a wedding location.
