Kerkrade, Limburg, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 137823
Provided by: Groots Genieten
If you cycle through Kerkrade and cross the national border, you cycle through the Worm Valley, along the winding banks of the Worm. On the border, on the banks of the Worm, is the watermill De Baalsbruggermolen. The year 1743 is written in the foundations of the building. You follow the banks of the Worm to Germany. The steep banks in the outer bends are the domain of the kingfisher. They are an ideal breeding ground for the kingfisher. Back in the Netherlands you cycle through Strijthagen, a completely intact noble estate. The Strijthagermolen was originally part of the park and the goods of Strijthagen Castle. The mill was built in 1617 as a corn mill.
