A tour of the forest and heath from Ermelo

Your route starts at Camping het Vossenhol. As you drive between the trees, you immediately notice that you leave the everyday routine behind you. You will soon pass through the Beekhuizerzand, a gently sloping drifting sand area. Especially on sunny days, the dried-out, almost gold-colored sandy landscape seems to be on another planet. You can enjoy the views on the Elspeetse Heide. On the edge of Elspeet you pass some beautiful thatched farms. You will also pass an authentic sheepfold. Staverden Estate is an idyllic spot where you will find a castle and some farms. Get off here to visit De Uddelaer Brewery, highly recommended. At the Ermelosche Heide Visitor Center you can learn more about the heath and the large flock of sheep that graze the heath.
