The Doornspijkse heath and Oldebroekse heath are in use by Defense. Rare grasshoppers, butterflies and birds are found here. The juniper shrubs on the Doornspijkse heath are the only place in the Netherlands where the juniper berry can survive on its own. Take a break at Camping de Wildhoeve and drink a cup of coffee at the associated Brasserie de Houtvesterij! You cycle on to the historic gem of Elburg, on the banks of the Veluwemeer and the Drontermeer. In the fourteenth century, it was decided that Elburg had to be moved due to numerous floods. The medieval fortified town was then designed at the drawing board, resulting in an almost completely straight street plan. The return journey takes you through the woods of Boswachterij Nunspeet. Purple-red sundew grows on the wet heath around the puddles.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
