Description

Around Apeldoorn it is nice to cycle through the IJssel valley and over the Veluwe. You pass through some nice villages, such as Twello, Lieren and Klarenbeek. You can also cycle through Apeldoorn itself and past Het Loo Palace.

The Loo
From the picturesque Beekbergen you are the first to drive a bit into the woods. Loosen up your legs and enjoy the fresh forest air. You then drive through Apeldoorn, the town known for its many beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. You will pass Paleis het Loo, this former royal palace is one of the Top 100 monuments and is now a national museum. Further on you will pass the Wenumse Molen, a beautiful fourteenth-century watermill on the Wenumse Beek.

Twello
In the IJssel valley you drive on low-traffic roads along meadows and stream valleys. It's a quiet bike ride here, ideal to switch back for a while. In Twello you can see Havekes Mölle, a flour mill from 1898. Further on you drive through the woods at the Bussloo recreation area.
