Cycling along the Loosdrecht lakes

After waking up in the morning from the birds at Boerderij Camping Doornenbal, you start your bike ride. This tour takes you through water-rich areas. You cycle along the Loosdrechtse, Vinkeveense and Ankeveense lakes. This is a well-known area for sailing enthusiasts and skaters. Along the way you will come across picturesque old Dutch villages such as Loenen aan de Vecht, Leusden and Nigtevecht. Expect landscape scenes with many boats on the water. The lakes are connected to the river Amstel. They were created by the extraction of peat. The elongated islands that you can still see are legakkers. These were drying fields where the wet peat was placed to dry. After more than fifty kilometers through a landscape that is so typical of the Netherlands, you will arrive back at Boerderij Camping Doornenbal.
