Description
This route takes you along a number of forts in and around Weesp. From the Diemerbos you first drive along the banks of the Diem. It is wonderful to cycle here along the rippling water. You take a look at Fort Diemerdam, a nineteenth-century defense structure from the Defense Line of Amsterdam. You cycle along the IJmeer to picturesque Muiden. Here you can view another fort, but also the medieval Muiderslot. In Weesp you can take a look at the historic Ossenmarkt. Here you see the Torenfort from 1861, it was part of the New Dutch Waterline. The Gaasp is a river that runs from Driemond to Diemen. Here you see the Community Mill, a polder mill from 1708. The route ends with a nice meal at House of Bird.
