The Utrechtse Heuvelrug from Amersfoort

The route starts at Restaurant & Coffee Bar Het Lokaal. From here you drive straight into the woods on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In this national park, nature presents you with a changing backdrop: one moment you drive along a lane with stately beech trees, the next the path meanders through the fragrant conifers. Peace and quiet close to the big cities. You will also come across historical highlights, such as Slot Zeist, a seventeenth-century stately castle. It can be visited at regular intervals. You cycle through beautiful Zeist back to the woods. You pass the National Military Museum at the former Soesterberg air base, with historic tanks, aircraft and weapons in a beautiful modern building. You also drive through the historic Kerkebuurt of Soest and the historic heart of Amersfoort.
