The Utrechtse Heuvelrug from Amersfoort

The route starts at Restaurant & Coffee Bar Het Lokaal. From here you cycle straight into the forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In this national park, nature offers you a changing setting: one moment you cycle along a lane with stately beech trees, then the path winds through the fragrant conifers. Peace and quiet close to the big cities. You will also encounter historical highlights, such as Slot Zeist, a seventeenth-century show castle. It can be visited at set times. You cycle back to the forests through beautiful Zeist. You pass the National Military Museum on the former Soesterberg air base, with historical tanks, planes and weapons in a beautiful modern building. You also cycle through the historical Kerkebuurt of Soest and the historical heart of Amersfoort.
