The Utrechtse Heuvelrug from Amersfoort

The route starts at Restaurant & Coffee Bar Het Lokaal. From here you can drive straight into the woods on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In this national park, nature presents you with a changing backdrop: one moment you are driving on a lane with stately beeches, the next the path winds through the fragrant conifers. Rest close to the big cities. You will also come across historical highlights, such as Slot Zeist, a seventeenth-century showpiece castle. It can be visited at set times. Through the beautiful Zeist you cycle back to the woods. You pass the National Military Museum on the former Soesterberg airbase, with historic tanks, planes and weapons in a beautiful modern building. You also drive through the historic Kerkebuurt of Soest and the historic heart of Amersfoort.
