From Wijk bij Duurstede to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

The first few kilometres will get your legs moving in the area around Cothen. There are many orchards: in the spring you can enjoy the beautiful blossom here. You will pass the historical kitchen garden Bartiméus. Here you will find a rose garden and greenhouses: worth a visit. Then you will cycle up the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In this large nature reserve you will cycle many kilometres through a varied landscape of deciduous and coniferous forests and heathlands. An ideal environment for a relaxing bike ride. You will regularly see stately villas and country houses. You will pass through Austerlitz, a village that originated in 1804 from a settlement of traders near a large French army camp. Finally, you will cycle back into the vast polders of the Kromme Rijnstreek. The route starts and ends at Camping't Boomgaardje.
