Your route starts at Restaurant van Hal. This route takes you to Kasteel Wisch in Terborg, whose history goes back eight centuries. In 1644, the current white building was built on the eastern bank of the IJssel. The black walnut tree is more than two centuries old! With a circumference of almost 5 meters, this is the thickest walnut in the Netherlands. On your tour, you will also discover the Slangenburg estate and its castle. Frederik Johan van Baer decorated the walls with paintings depicting his wife. He lost her to an illness. In addition to being an artistic painter, he was also a good agricultural economist. For example, he bought the Doetinchemse Heide from the city of Doetinchem and laid out a lane system there, which still exists today.
