Description

House Diepenheim is the oldest manor in the region. The fortified house was first mentioned in the year 1177, when it was destroyed. A new house was built here as early as 1180. Huize Warmelo is first mentioned in 1315. Four centuries of garden architecture come together in the beautiful castle garden. The stately building Huis Verwolde was first mentioned in 1346. It was conquered in 1505 by Duke Karel van Gelre, who had it thoroughly fortified. In 1510 the castle was destroyed by an enemy. Later, the current castle was rebuilt in a simple form. The castle is open to the public and serves as a museum. Get off at Camping & Restaurant De Poppe before cycling back!
