Huis Diepenheim is the oldest manor house in the region. The fortified house was first mentioned in the year 1177, when it was destroyed. As early as 1180 a new house arose here. Huize Warmelo is first mentioned in 1315. Four centuries of garden architecture come together in the beautiful castle garden. The stately building Huis Verwolde is first mentioned in 1346. It was conquered in 1505 by Duke Karel van Gelre, who had it thoroughly reinforced. In 1510 the castle was destroyed by an enemy. Later the current castle was rebuilt in a simple form. The castle is open to the public and serves as a museum. Get off at Camping & Restaurant De Poppe before you cycle back to square one!
