Baarle-Nassau and the silent forests

A trip through the border region between Belgium and the Netherlands means enjoying vast forests and refreshing tranquility. Along the way, you'll pass through several charming towns, such as the famous Baarle-Nassau.

High Ponds
First, you drive through the forests towards the border. In Belgium, you immediately enter the Hoge Vijvers nature reserve. In this nature reserve, you'll ride along wide avenues past meadows, fields, and among the many conifers. Despite the name, you won't find any ponds here. Instead, you'll find a refreshing tranquility, just like in the adjacent Ravelse Bos.

Baarle-Nassau
In Ravels and Weelde, you'll experience the typical, friendly Flemish atmosphere. You'll see several old farmhouses and characteristic chapels and wayside crosses. In Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog, you can count how many times you cross the border. The borders of the enclaves are clearly visible in the streets and sometimes even run right through buildings. You'll cycle back through Belgium for a bit, after which you'll pass through the vast forests of the Utrecht Estate.
