Description
On the border of Drenthe and Friesland there are large forests, heathlands, drifting sand areas and relaxing stream valley grasslands in the Drents-Friese Wold National Park nature reserve. Would you like to join us on an exploration of this beautiful area?
Straight through the Drents-Friese Wold
The starting point for this route is in Doldersum. From here you cycle to Vledder and then on to Diever through beautiful green areas. Just outside Diever you can take a look at a dolmen. Of course, this cannot be missed during a trip through Drenthe. Dolmen D52 is a medium-sized dolmen that consists of six covering stones, two keystones and a gate stone. The dolmen was damaged at the beginning of 2011, because someone had started a fire in the burial vault. This caused a large crack in one of the supporting stones. From Diever you cycle straight through the Drents-Friese Wold to Oosterwolde. In the woods you can relax with the sound of birdsong and perhaps hear the drumming of a woodpecker.

Mill Vesuvius
Between Oosterwolde and Tronde you cycle past the Molen Vesuvius. This mill was built at the end of the 19th century. Over the years the mill fell into disrepair, but in 1978 the mill was completely restored. Nowadays, the blades of this mill are removed in winter to protect them from the cold.
