The story has been going around for centuries that a treasure is buried in Montferland. Many have searched for it, but no treasure has ever been found - unless it is the beauty of the region itself! Also join us for a treasure hunt in beautiful Montferland, whether or not you find a treasure, this beautiful area is worth exploring. The municipality of Montferland is located in the east of the Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland, directly on the German border. The varied landscapes on a relatively small scale make it one of the most beautiful municipalities in the country. The contours of the landscape were formed long ago, during the last ice age. Small villages are hidden between hills, forests and farmland. In the middle you will find the medieval town of 's-Heerenberg with its old streets and the imposing Huis Bergh castle. This area with its long, rich history is ideal for a cultural and historical cycling tour. Take a look at the new branch of VVV Montferland, in the former Gouden Handen monastery at Emmerikseweg 17 in 's-Heerenberg. Who knows, you might be tempted to stay longer with all the beauty here!
