A tour of the Oosterschelde

Cycling along the Oosterschelde is beautiful. You will find plenty of nature reserves and sights here.

Oosterscheldekering
From Bicycle Shop Kamperland you first drive to Verscentrum Sandee. You can stock up on fresh produce here for a delicious picnic along the way. A little later you drive through the wide polders of Noord-Beveland. At the Oosterscheldekering you can get a breath of fresh air while enjoying the views over the North Sea. Over the years, wind and weather have turned Neeltje Jans into a beautiful dune landscape that is held together by marram grass and sea buckthorn.

Zeeland Bridge
You will pass the Plompetoren, a former church tower from 1468. From the top you have a unique panorama. The Schelphoek is a creek area that emerged from one of the largest dike breaches during the 1953 flood disaster. Further on you cycle through the Prunje, the oldest polder on Schouwen-Duiveland. You drive through historic Zierikzee, after which you cross the iconic Zeeland Bridge. On the north coast of Noord-Beveland you can see the characteristic inlays: natural polders behind the sea dike.
