Round Ravenstein and the Meuse

Along the Brabant Maas are beautiful gems such as Megen and Ravenstein. In the outskirts of Oss you cycle through the Herpse Bossen. In this setting of fields, fields and coulisse forest, one thing immediately stands out: the tranquility. Ideal for a day of downshifting. In Megen you can still really feel the atmosphere of a bygone era because of the many well-preserved old buildings. You can see the Gevangenpoort, a fourteenth-century gate tower that was once part of the demolished walls. It is wonderful to cycle on the Maasdijk, while looking out over the floodplains. You pass a few characteristic farms and the Stella Polaris, or Poolster: a flour mill from 1865. You also pass through the historic center of Ravenstein.
