Plasmolen is also known as the only artists' colony in Limburg. From 1900 onwards, hundreds of artists settled here. The unspoilt nature that you encounter here served as a source of inspiration for most of them. The city of Gennep is located at the confluence of the rivers Maas and Niers. It is thought that the city acquired its city rights well before 1371. This can still be seen in the historical architectural style that you see in the city. The mill Rust na Arbeid is located in Ven-Zelderheide. This stone corn mill was built in 1880. Then you cycle a little further via Landgoed Bleijenbeek and cycle along the Maas back into Afferden.
