Tour of Westkapelle, Zoutelande and Veere

During this cycling tour you will pass several seaside resorts, such as Oostkapelle, Westkapelle and Zoutelande. Westhove Castle is located in Oostkapelle. It used to serve as a country house for prominent Zeeland families and from the thirteenth to the sixteenth century it was owned by the Middelburg abbey. During the Eighty Years' War it came into the hands of the Water Beggars. Unfortunately, a large part of the lock was lost to fire. What you can still see are the buildings of the actual outer bailey. But it remains a beautiful and romantic image of a medieval castle anyway. In Westkapelle, take a look at the Polderhuis Westkapelle Dike and War Museum. Near the beautiful old Veere you can stop at Theetuin and Farm Camping Plantlust for a piece of apple pie!
