Historic Aardenburg
The route starts at Camping De Meidoorn, a cozy family campsite on the edge of Sluis. You first drive along the old ramparts, after which you drive towards Aardenburg: the oldest town in Zeeland. Here you can admire, among other things, the St. Bavo Church. This thirteenth-century church was built in the Scheldt Gothic style and is in the top 100 of Dutch national monuments. Further on you pass through Oostburg, a pleasant town.
Forest of Erasmus
At junction 38 you pass through the small-scale Bos van Erasmus. You will see beeches, poplars and ash trees around the old farm of farmer Erasmus. Cadzand is a medieval ring village where the Gothic St. Mary's Church from the early fourteenth century is located. The atmosphere in this village is reminiscent of times gone by. Further on you drive past the Zwin, a beautiful cross-border nature reserve. The former fortress Retranchement is the last village on your route.
