Tour of manors near Raalte

You will come across historic manors, such as De Velner in the hamlet of Tijenraan. You will also find manors and estate Boxbergen on your route. The estate of approximately 370 hectares has remained fairly intact. Forestry, livestock and recreation all still take place in the relief-rich cover sand area. The history of the house goes back at least to 1344, because that is the year in which it is first mentioned in the archives. Between 1650 and 1653 the house was rebuilt after it went up in flames. The house then had seven facades with hundreds of windows, making it one of the largest houses in the region. Klein Hoenlo, also known as the widow's house, is next to Groot Hoenlo Castle.
