Tour of Diepenveen, Schalkhaar and Deventer

You can relax your legs while cycling along the IJsselkade. Here you have a beautiful view of the river and the floodplains. On the right you pass many beautiful buildings. Just outside Deventer you pass Huis Nieuw Rande. Its predecessor, Oud Rande, is already mentioned in documents from 1285. The tower you see is the only remaining remnant of this old manor. The current Nieuw Rande was built around 1850. You drive around the west and north sides of Diepenveen on quiet roads. Further on you will pass Sion Abbey, a former Cistercian abbey that was founded in 1883. The last monks left in 2015, and since then the building has been used as an ecumenical reflection center. You drive through the Zandweteringpark to the heart of Deventer. The route ends here at Hotel Restaurant Huis Vermeer.
