Tour of Diepenveen, Schalkhaar and Deventer

You loosen up your legs while cycling along the IJsselkade. You have a beautiful view of the river and the floodplains. On the right you pass many beautiful buildings. Just outside Deventer you pass Huis Nieuw Rande. Its predecessor, Oud Rande, is already mentioned in documents from 1285. The tower you see is the only remaining remnant of this old manor. The current Nieuw Rande was built around 1850. On quiet roads you cycle around the west and north side of Diepenveen. Further on you pass Abdij Sion, a former Cistercian abbey that was founded in 1883. The last monks left in 2015, since then the building has been used as an ecumenical reflection centre. Through the Zandweteringpark you cycle to the heart of Deventer.
