Tour of the Weerribben and Giethoorn NP

Your route starts at Café Restaurant De Otterskooi in the nice Dwarsgracht. Via the beautiful little Kalenberg you cycle through the Weerribben, on a path along the water. At nature activity center De Weerribben you can learn more about the special plants and animals here. The carnivorous bladderwort often floats in large masses on the fens and in the reedlands you will encounter cheerful colors of the fireweed. You will also see deer, foxes and the otter, which has been successfully reintroduced. Giethoorn is an experience in itself, with the cute bridges over waterways where punters sail. Ditches and canals were dug around houses to drain the peat. But Dwarsgracht is also a very sweet village - and much less busy. A discovery!
