Description

The Veluwe is characterized by unexpected desert-like sand plains, pine forests and stretches of vast moorland. Everywhere you see traces of wildlife. Roe deer and red deer, but also foxes, hares and other smaller animals leave their marks on this cycle route. The Hoge Veluwe National Park is located on sandy soils. For the most part it is formed by water, ice and wind. On your way back you cycle through Otterlo. Curious where that name comes from? The suffix lo, shortened from loo, is a historical name for a forest. The name of the place Otterlo was also written as Otterloo in the past.
