This route takes you through three historic towns on the Gouwzee. You start in Volendam. The first kilometers you drive along the meadows of the Waterland, after which you drive through Monnickendam. In this town you will see plenty of beautiful monumental buildings. Museum De Speeltoren is definitely worth a visit. You can learn more about this town at the Monnickendam tourist agency. Then you drive over the Waterlandse Zeedijk, which was built in the Middle Ages! You will find a unique atmosphere on Marken. Here you will see, among other things, the Paard van Marken, an iconic lighthouse from 1839. You can cross the Gouwzee with a ferry to the port of Volendam. This is where the Cooperative Fish Auction Sint-Vincentius is located, a monument from 1934. The route ends at Hotel Café Restaurant van den Hogen.
