Description

Around the twenty-two kilometer long Veerse Meer, you can enjoy picturesque villages, old mills and a beautiful view over the water. You also follow the coastline for a long way. You also cross the Veerse Gat to the former De Schotsman sandbank. The first sight on the route is the Oosterscheldekering. This storm surge barrier is the largest of the 13 delta works and probably one of the most famous for this reason. One and a half kilometers further it is time for a break at Proef Zeeland - Neeltje Jans Mosselen. The name says it all: here you can enjoy the tastiest fish dishes, with the specialty of course being the delicious boiled mussels. Nice for in between. Fish is also not very heavy on the stomach, so order a nice pan before you get back on the bike to continue.
