The Soester Dunes
In Soest you will find the sand drift Soester Duinen. In this area you will find almost no trees and that ensures that the drifting sand can blow around freely. This area was once covered by heathlands, but those fields were sodded and grazed by cattle. This is how the special current drifting sand area came into being. Cycle straight through this nature reserve to the center of Soest. You will pass the windmill De Windhond. This mill was built between 2006 and 2008 on the site of a predecessor. On the municipal border of Soest you will find Paleis Soestdijk. During a visit you will get to know Paleis Soestdijk where Prince Bernhard and Princess Juliana lived for a long time. Take enough time to admire the palace.
