You are going to drive into the Land van Heusden & Altena. This historic region belonged to the County of Holland for centuries, but came into Brabant hands in 1810. You pass through the charming Babyloniënbroek, at junction 67 you drive past the Pompveld: an unspoilt nature reserve. In Uitwijk you see an old church, characteristic farms and a village pump in the middle of an intersection.
Loevestein Castle
Woudrichem is a former fortified town on the Waal. Here you can still experience the atmosphere of times gone by. Just like Loevestein Castle, which is located in the De Waarden nature reserve. There is a museum in the castle. In Veen you will pass De Hoop, a flour mill from 1838. Cycling along the Maasdijk you will look out over the Afgedamde Maas, the vast polders and thatched farms. Wijk & Aalburg is home to the Twee Gebroeders, a flour mill from 1872.
