Cycling through the Hanseatic city of Venlo and its surroundings

Venlo, Baarlo and Kessel: this route takes you through some beautiful places on the Limburg Maas. You can also enjoy the special nature in the border area with Germany.

Great Heath
At Tuincentrum Leurs you can first have a drink and a bite to eat before you get on your bike. The seventeenth-century manor castle Arenborg is the first sight on your route. Then you cycle along the Groote Heide, you have beautiful views here. Then you dive into the forests along the border. How wonderfully quiet it is here. At junction 99 you come through Ronkenstein, you see some well-preserved eighteenth-century monuments here.

Beautiful Baarlo
On the other side of the Maas you drive through the picturesque Kessel. Here you will find the Church of Our Lady's Nativity from 1460 and the ninth-century Keverberg Castle. Along the Maas you drive to the next beautiful village: Baarlo. Here you will see, among other things, De Borcht Castle. This castle originally dates from 1200, the current moated building was built in the seventeenth century.
