Description
This route takes you through the Limburgse Vijlenerbos and further you cycle through Belgium. Along the way you can enjoy lush forests, diverse flora and fauna, and several sights worth seeing.
Ancient sights
From the starting point of this route you set course for Belgium. Along the way you will see beeches, hazels and shrubs that grow low to the ground. You can also hear the fairytale babbling of streams here and if you are lucky you will spot a stone marten, a badger, an ermine or one of the other animals that live and hunt here. The first sight you encounter is the Commandery. The Teutonic Order used to reside in this castle. The wing on which a tower protrudes is the oldest part of the historic commandery. The next stops on the route are the Vaalsbroekermolen and the Vaelsbroek castle. You will also pass the Onderste Molen, the Bovenste Molen and the Schoutenhof.
Hoeve de Witte Elephant Noorbeek
At the end of the route you will arrive at Hoeve de Witte Olifant Noorbeek. You can choose from 8 comfortable holiday homes here. Sleep well and try route 136350 the next day to explore the area further. Hoeve de Witte Olifant Noorbeek is an official free charging point with a picnic area.
The Lower and the Upper Mill
The Onderste Molen is a beautiful water mill that was used as a corn mill. In addition, this mill generated electricity. The original mill was built in 1215 and was then called the commander's mill. After a restoration, the mill was renamed the' Lower Mill\\\'. The mill was made fully operational in 2005 and is used on a voluntary basis. The Bovenste mill, which you can see seven hundred meters upstream, is a medium-sized watermill.
