There are picturesque villages along the edge of the Maastricht, as well as beautiful windmills. These play the leading role in this route, which also introduces you to a part of the Voer region.
Neubourger mill
A little later you cycle through the beautiful sloped forests around the Margraten Plateau to the village of Cadier en Keer, Margraten and Gulpen. Here you see the Neubourgermolen, a watermill that was installed in 1712 to grind paper. This ground clothing into pulp, from which paper was manually scooped.
Groenendaalsmolen
The Groenendaalsmolen is another beautiful watermill. This flour mill ground near Euverem on the water of the Gulp, but after the mill was converted into a house it no longer grinds. The mill traditionally belonged to Groenendael Castle, dating from 1775, of which only the foundations remain. You cycle further through the rolling greenery. Just across the border you will discover the village of's-Gravenvoer, a well-known ribbon village in the Voer region with beautiful churches and chapels.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
