Along the edge of the Maastricht are picturesque villages, but also beautiful windmills. These play the leading role in this route, which also introduces you to a part of the Voer region.
Neubourger mill
A little later you cycle through the beautiful hillside forests around the Plateau of Margraten to the villages of Cadier en Keer, Margraten and Gulpen. Here you can see the Neubourgermolen, a water mill that was installed in 1712 to grind paper. This ground clothing into a pulp, from which paper was manually scooped.
Groenendaal mill
The Groenendaalsmolen is another beautiful watermill. This flour mill used to grind on the water of the Gulp near Euverem, but after the mill was converted into a house, it no longer grinds. The mill traditionally belonged to Castle Groenendael, from 1775, of which only the foundations are left. You continue cycling through the rolling greenery. Just across the border you will discover the village's-Gravenvoeren, a well-known ribbon village in the Voer region with beautiful churches and chapels.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
