Your route starts in Gronsveld, at De Kwizzenjèr. Through the sloping forests around the Plateau of Margraten you cycle to the village of Cadier en Keer, Margraten and Gulpen. Here you see the Neubourgermolen, a watermill that was placed in 1712 to grind paper. It ground clothing into pulp, from which paper was manually scooped. The Groenendaalsmolen is another beautiful watermill. This corn mill ground near Euverem on the water of the Gulp, but after the mill was converted into a house it no longer grinds. The mill originally belonged to Groenendael castle, from 1775, of which only the foundations remain. You cycle further through the rolling greenery. Just across the border you discover the village of 's-Gravenvoeren, a well-known ribbon village in the Voer region with beautiful churches and chapels.
