Royal cycle route through the forests

Your route starts at Restaurant De Egelshoek. This route first goes through the polder, and then through the beautiful forests around Baarn, the Soesterduinen and Paleis Soestdijk. Paleis Soestdijk was originally a hunting lodge, built in the seventeenth century. The young stadtholder, Willem III, bought the farm in 1674. The Crown Prince and his Russian wife had Soestdijk completely renovated into a real summer palace. Around Paleis Soestdijk you cycle through the green nature. After a stop at your starting point for lunch, you make another beautiful loop to the lake area. You pass the nineteenth-century estate Persijn, with a beautiful monumental country house. Further on you cycle into the peatlands with the characteristic ribbon villages. At Tienhoven you pass the Trouwe Waghter, a former polder mill from 1832.
