Royal cycle route through the woods

Your route starts at Restaurant De Egelshoek. This route first goes through the polder, and then through the beautiful forests around Baarn, the Soesterduinen and Soestdijk Palace. Soestdijk Palace was originally a hunting lodge, built in the seventeenth century. The young stadtholder, Willem III, bought the homestead in 1674. The Crown Prince and his Russian wife had Soestdijk completely renovated into a real summer palace. You can cycle through the green nature around Soestdijk Palace. After a stop at your starting point for lunch, you make a nice loop to the lake area. You will pass the nineteenth-century Persijn estate, with a beautiful monumental country house. Further on you drive into the peat bogs with the characteristic ribbon villages. Near Tienhoven you pass the Trouwe Waghter, a former polder mill from 1832.
