This route takes you through the woods of Klooster Ter Apel. The medieval Crosier monastery now houses a museum: well worth a visit!
Diamonds aa
The first kilometers you drive through the valley of the Ruiten Aa, the heart of the Westerwolde region. Here you cycle through a mosaic of grain-covered ash and grasslands that are lined with wooden belts. It is not for nothing that this stream valley is one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands! You will also pass through the Sellingerbossen. Here you will find the Theater of Nature, a unique nature viewing hill. Be sure to take a look!
Ter Apel
Groningen may be known for its vast landscape, but at Ter Apel you will pass through a forest again. And not just any: this monastery forest was already planted around 800 AD. Monastery Ter Apel dates from 1465, the current museum is one of the Top 100 Dutch UNESCO monuments. The route then takes you through the Sellingerveld nature reserve. You will also experience a refreshing tranquility here!
