The start and end point of this route is at Wijngoed De Reestlandhoeve. The Echtenerveld is a large nature reserve with woods, heaths and fens. The protected juniper grows in the'Echtens Paradijs\\\', a heath with a sand drift. You will also pass two historic burial mounds. They used to be used to bury the dead and to honor the dead. In the picturesque village of Echten you go back in time with the ancient Saxon farms. It is dominated by the beautiful manors of Echten from the fifteenth century. At that time it was still a hall, but in the eighteenth century it was converted into a house with two wings around a courtyard. Today it is a workshop for the visually and mentally handicapped. Another beautiful place you will pass is Zuidwolde.

On the border of Drenthe and Overijssel lies the beautiful Reestdal with a sandy and permeable soil. The soil here is full of iron ore, ideal for grape growing. At the Reestlandhoeve they work the land with natural fertilizers and minerals. In the summer months you imagine yourself in France, then classical music sounds through the vineyard. A nice place to take part in during a walking or cycling trip through the beautiful surroundings of IJhorst and Staphorst! Check our website for opening hours.

Castle Echten was built in the fifteenth century. The castle dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was still a hall tower castle. Due to the eighteenth-century facade, it does not really look medieval anymore, but it is still intact.

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were used not only to produce flour from cereals, but also to reclaim polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, really set up as a polder model. A must see!
