Tour of Roden, Zevenhuizen and Roderesch

The first attraction on the route is Hunebed D1. This dolmen is the northernmost in the province and that is why the numbering of the dolmens in Drenthe started here. The stone grave lies against a slope of sand and is well preserved. The dolmen consists of twelve supporting stones, six covering stones and two keystones. The dolmen was restored in 1953/1954, the covering stones were then put back in place. Then you cycle to a burial mound near Bakkeveen. Roden is located in the Noordenveld, in the Kop van Drenthe. The etstoel, the meeting of etten chaired by the drost, met here twice a year. Despite this, the village never received city rights.
