The authentic catchment area of the Drentsche Aa

Your route starts at Brasserie De 3 Heeren. Before 1813, Rolde was the main village of the Landscape of Drenthe, as the province was formerly called. Various cart tracks run from the Balloerveld in the surrounding area, pointing towards the church tower of Rolde. Charming features include the Saxon farmhouses around the village green, the fields on the rolling hills, the higher-lying fields, and the hay meadows and pastures. Near Rolde, you will find dolmens D17 and dolmens D17. D17 is located close to the church, but dolmen D18 is in better condition. The dolmens are situated in such beautiful locations that many painters have already immortalized them on their canvases. At the Balloerveld, you pass a sheepfold housing the largest flock of sheep in Drenthe. An information center has been set up at the fold.
