Zwolle is a Hanseatic city, it originated in the Middle Ages on a higher situated cover sand ridge in the middle of a marshy area. In the capital of Overijssel the differences in height are still noticeable. You cycle out of the city along the river Zwarte Water. Further on you look out over a pool on the river. On the other side you see the Westerveldse Bos, a young nature reserve. From the dike you have a beautiful view of the river and the floodplains. Then you cross the IJssel via a bridge. Via the nice Hanseatic town of Hattem and a ferry you cycle to the Vecht. Here you see the Leemcule, a chic house from the nineteenth century, and the Rutenberg, a country house from 1828. Get off nearby at Restaurant De Witte Gans!
