Low Mierde, Poppel and Esbeek

Cycle around the De Utrecht estate, which borders the Wellenseindse Heide. The woodland covers approximately 2,500 hectares and consists of Scots pine, Douglas fir, and European larch. These trees were felled to provide timber for coal mines in South Limburg. The Reusel valley, the meandering stream, and the areas surrounding the fens where marsh gentian, marsh clubmoss, white beaked sedge, and bog asphodel are in bloom are very beautiful. There are also cultural monuments to be found: an old fire tower with a forester's cottage dating from 1905 is among the hidden gems in the woods. Take a break at Hotel-Restaurant Herberg St. Petrus before cycling back to your starting point! The inn is named after the beautiful old church next door.
