Description
The Maas forms the border between Dutch and Belgian Limburg for approximately 40 kilometers. There is much to experience for cyclists on both sides of this Grensmaas. You will find beautiful natural beauty and historic church villages.
RivierPark Maasvallei
The area along the Grensmaas has been renamed RivierPark Maasvallei. Both Limburgs hope to be able to better protect nature through cross-border cooperation. Rightly so! The landscape here consists of a beautiful series of agricultural fields, river arms, levees, channels, gravel ponds and floodplains. From the saddle you can fully enjoy the peace and quiet and the beautiful views over the Maas. Binoculars are not an unnecessary luxury here, especially if you like birds.
Limburg church villages
Between the Juliana Canal and the Maas you drive through the old picturesque village center of Urmond, a nice place to soak up some history. Further on you will pass Stein Castle. This moated complex includes the ruins of a marlstone keep from 1200, wow! In Grevenbicht you will pass a seventeenth-century water mill. A little further on you can enjoy a drink and a delicious meal at Eetcafé Aurora.
