Beautiful vast nature, interrupted by the occasional forest. The landscape is part of the Natura 2000 area Weerter- en Budelerbergen and the Ringselven. You explore the gently rolling heathlands and can view an urn field from the late Bronze Age. The burial mounds contain the remains of a small group of people who inhabited the area between 1100 and 700 BC. Some of the finds from the burial mounds can be seen in the De Tiendschuur museum in Weert. Archaeological research has not detracted from the special cemetery, because after the excavations the burial mounds were neatly restored.

Below Budel you can also see the Loozerheide. The undeveloped part consists of heathland and swamps, interspersed with conifers and sand drifts. This plant grows here, especially in the Ringselven, because the area is the largest growing place for bile in the Netherlands. You will also encounter the smallest hedgehog's head, creeping swamp plantain, uneven-leaved pondweed and many other species. Animals that frequent the area include many bird species: the black-necked grebe, bittern, little bittern and cowrie, but there are also amphibians such as the moor frog and the great crested newt.

A nice sight is the Janzona mill. It is one of the three mills that can still be seen in Budel and the Janzona was first mentioned in 1341. In 1921 the mill was destroyed by fire and it was decided not to restore the mill due to competition from the other mills in the village. To prevent decay, the owner runs the mill regularly.

De Sluis, located at the beginning and end of the route, you can end the tour with a drink upon your return. You can have a nice meal there, but there is also a Bed & Breakfast, so you can rest from the exertion of the day and relax. Do you want to sleep at home, but you don't feel like going out yet? Then the bowling alley is available for a fun game after dinner!

De Sluis Weert is a nice place to relax after a walk or a bike ride. Set aside some time for a so-called'Weerter moment\\\': a cup of coffee with a piece of real Limburg flan. You can also choose from an extensive range of specialty beer. A nice lunch with a sandwich and a cup of soup, a 3-course dinner or enjoying one of the seasonal dishes is also possible. The party center is a stone's throw from all kinds of tourist attractions and beautiful walking and cycling areas, such as De IJzeren Man and the associated swimming pool, Weerterbergen, the Weerterbos and Kinderpretland.

It is an octagonal wooden belt mill that is decorated as a flour mill. Janzona means: 'son of Janssen'. This mill was built in 1937 to replace a mill that burned down in that year and after a thorough restoration in 1980 the mill is fully operational again.
