Description
Your route starts at LUDIC food and sleep in Havelte. From here you cycle to the Westerzand on the Havelterberg, an estate where forest, heathland and peat merge into one another. You will see two beautiful hunebeds: hunebed D54 and hunebed D53, both built during the Funnel Beaker culture. Hunebed D54 consists of fourteen supporting stones that carry six capstones. Hunebed D53 is even larger and has 21 supporting stones, two keystones and nine capstones. The gate is also complete and consists of four supporting stones and a capstone. During archaeological research in 1918, the shards of 665 pots were found. You cycle through the nature around Uffelte to National Park Dwingelderveld for the sheepfold of Ruinen. The sheepfold on the edge of the Benderse Heide and houses up to 300 Drentse Heideschapen!
