First you cycle to Steenwijk. Be surprised by the rich history of this former fortified town: Steenwijk has more than 60 national monuments, including De Markt and the city canals. The fifteenth-century church tower is the oldest existing structure in Steenwijk. The region around Nijeveen and Ruinerwold is a former peat area. Here you cycle past vast meadows. You will also pass De Sterrenberg, a beautiful thatched corn mill from 1786. You can get off at the tea shed and picking garden Het Groene Geschenk - be sure to discover the barefoot path. Get off at Buitengoed Weerwille. You can come here for a cup of coffee or tea with homemade cakes, lunch or snacks with a tasty drink. You look out over the first Pitch & Putt course that was built in Ruinerwold in 1998.
