The mills between Steenwijk and Wolvega

Your route starts at Buitengoed Fredeshiem. You make a nice round along mills between Steenwijk in Overijssel and Wolvega in Friesland and back again. The 26-metre-high hill Woldberg is part of a moraine from the penultimate ice age. At De Blesse you cross the provincial border and drive into Friesland. In the village you pass the De Mars corn mill, which was built in 1834. The mill has been renovated and grain is still milled on a voluntary basis. Take a look! Windmill De Hoeve, near the village of De Hoeve, is a polder mill. A striking appearance in Wolvega is the Windlust mill. This corn mill from 1888 has a span of 27 metres. This makes the mill one of the largest in the Netherlands.
