The mills between Steenwijk and Wolvega

Your route starts at Buitengoed Fredeshiem. You take a nice tour past windmills between Steenwijk in Overijssel and Wolvega in Friesland and back. The 26 meter high Woldberg hill is part of a moraine from the penultimate ice age. At De Blesse you pass the provincial border and enter Friesland. In the village you will pass the De Mars flour mill, which was built in 1834. The mill has been renovated and grain is still milled on a voluntary basis. Take a look! Windmill De Hoeve, near the village of De Hoeve, is a polder mill. A striking appearance in Wolvega is the Windlust mill. This flour mill from 1888 has a radius of 27 meters. This makes the mill one of the largest in the Netherlands.
